Whether you walk, ride or drive, UCI Transportation and Distribution Services strives to make your commute as safe and stress-free as possible. UCI Transportation manages roadways that serve tens of thousands of vehicles traveling to and from campus per day. Traffic flow is monitored regularly to ensure optimized signal operation during your daily commute.
Our current projects are dedicated to enhancing campus travel and fostering growth, ensuring a seamless and sustainable environment for students, faculty, and visitors.
We are conducts monthly inspections of traffic signals which, along with preventative maintenance, facilitates their safe and efficient operation and minimizes traffic delays. UCI Transportation partners with external contractors to perform the maintenance.
Ensuring that roadways are accessible and bridges have adequate clearance is essential for the safe and efficient movement of vehicles through campus roadways, especially for large trucks and emergency vehicles.
Our traffic systems coordinator oversees all traffic signalization managed through a computer located near the intersection. This system uses sensors embedded in the road’s surface to detect vehicles and bicycles, and manual push buttons for pedestrian detection.
