Bus and Shuttle

There are three main bus and shuttle services to meet the diverse transportation needs of UCI students, faculty, and staff. Anteater Express is the campus’ official shuttle service that offers efficient and reliable on-campus commuting, ensuring easy access to various locations across the main campus. For those needing to travel between the UCI Medical Center, UCI Health-Irvine, and the main campus, the Campus-to-Campus Shuttle provides a direct and convenient connection between these key locations. Additionally, the OC Bus facilitates exploration and commuting from various locations around Orange County, offering broader regional access and making it easier to navigate the surrounding areas.

OC Bus (Orange County Transportation Authority)

UCI Transportation has partnered with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) so students, faculty, and staff can receive unlimited regular service on OC Bus shuttles by becoming a University Pass member.

Eligibility

All students currently enrolled in UCI classes with a current photo ID card
All faculty and staff currently employed by UCI (Main Campus) with a UCI Staff ID card
Medical Center employees with Medical Center ID do not qualify for this program (contact Medical Center Rideshare for information)

Restrictions

Invalid if member leaves UCI
Not available to UCI affiliates who currently hold a parking permit
Non-transferable: Use of University Pass card by non-members will result in termination of University Pass card privileges for the member
Not valid for Express Routes and ACCESS buses (for seniors and disabled only)
Full fare must be paid for non-OC Bus lines such as Long Beach Transit, MTA, and Irvine “I-Shuttle”
No refunds will be given after 2 months of use

Purchasing a University Pass
University Passes are only $169 and are valid from July 1 through June 30 of next year. Purchase your UPass membership card through your myCommute account.

Commuting With OC Bus

OC Bus makes commuting to and from campus a breeze! The OC Bus allows students living in Park West, Villa Siena, Toscana, Newport North, Newport Bluffs, and neighboring communities to commute to campus stress-free and cost-effectively with direct lines to UCI.

Campus-to-Campus Shuttle (UCIMC-UCI)

The shuttle service is a partnership between UCI Transportation and Distribution Services, UCIMC Parking and Transportation Services, and the UCI School of Medicine. The Medical Center shuttle is available to students, faculty, and staff on a first-come, first-serve basis. As you board the shuttle, show your UCI ID to the driver to verify that you are part of the UC Irvine community. The shuttle runs Mondays through Fridays, except for holidays. The shuttle does not run on weekends.

Anteater Express

The Anteater Express shuttle is a partnership between UCI Transportation and Distribution Services and Associated Students UCI. The Anteater Express campus shuttles take passengers around campus or to select destinations. Mount your bike on designated shuttle bike racks and take your ride even further!

Seasonal: Holiday Shuttle

To support our community’s travel plans on select days during seasonal academic breaks, our Complimentary Holiday Shuttle provides service between the main campus and John Wayne Airport, and between the main campus and the Irvine Transportation Center (Metrolink/Amtrak Station).
