Formatting Outgoing Domestic Mail

Ensure your letter arrives at its destination by correctly addressing outgoing mail. Outgoing mail requires a delivery address and a return address. Both must be printed or typed. To qualify for First Class letter postage rates, envelopes should be at least 3-1/2 x 5 inches and no larger than 6-1/8 x 11-1/2 inches. It may not weight more than two ounces or be thicker than one quarter inch (1/4″).

Formatting addresses on outgoing mail

UCI’s unique ZIP code is 92697 (excluding housing complexes). The 4-digit ZotCode should follow the ZIP code. The optional 2-digit subaccount code should be placed two lines below the address.

Mailing Label

Print the University mailing label template for:

  • United States Postal Service (not FedEx or UPS)
  • Larger-size envelopes or parcels
  • Items requiring special handling

The template allows you to print one or more sheets of customized UCI shipping labels. Simply type your return address and ZotCode in the first label, and the information will automatically appear on all labels.
The mailing label template is compatible with AVERY LABEL #5164 or #5264 for laser printers, or AVERY LABEL #8164 for inkjet printers.
