Sustainable Transportation

Transportation and Distribution Services offers a number of sustainable commuting options including carpool matching services, vanpools, subsidized OCTA bus passes, rebates on train tickets, and other convenient, cost-effective options that can significantly reduce your monthly transportation expenses. All Sustainable Transportation programs include employee incentives for a number of complimentary daily permits on those rare occasions when you drive alone, and a guaranteed ride home program for unexpected emergencies.

UC Irvine is among the elite universities awarded the Platinum-level Bicycle Friendly University certification by the League of American Bicyclists, underscoring our dedication to promoting cycling as a sustainable mode of transportation.

UC Irvine Sustainable Transportation’s goal is to reduce the total number of vehicle trips made to campus by faculty, staff, and students. Our goal serves the California clean-air effort and reduces campus and community vehicle congestion. As part of our compliance program, the campus conducts an employee commuter survey each April.

UC Irvine boasts one of the highest Zipcar utilization rates nationally, demonstrating our students’ enthusiasm for sustainable transportation solutions and reducing the need for personal vehicle ownership.
